Buccaneers veteran OLB/DE Jason Pierre-Paul missed last week’s practice due to injury and was questionable heading into Sunday’s game against the Bears; however, he mustered the strength to play anyway.
JPP recorded 2 sacks, 4 total tackles, 3 of them solo, and forced a fumble during Sunday’s molly whopping of the Bears.
Following the game, JPP dropped a bombshell on reporters, stating that he is a little more hurt than anyone believed. The veteran defensive player admitted that he is playing with a torn rotator cuff and a fractured finger.
There is no question of how tough JPP is, and playing on Sunday afternoon more than proved it. There is an evident boost in defensive morale when JPP is on the field, and his presence alone is more than enough to disrupt opponents. Although he is tough as nails, one has to question if the decision to play JPP almost 60% of Sunday’s defensive snaps. Losing JPP for the season would be more than a letdown. It would be devastating.
